Client Privacy Policy
Providers who trust IBA to safeguard their personal information are assured that we take this matter very seriously. Historically, IBA has protected personal information through strict non-disclosure except as specifically directed by the contracted provider. Recently passed federal law, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and state regulations under it, establish privacy standards. In most, if not all cases, these provisions are already contained in our agreements or you are protected by similar provisions required of all healthcare providers by the federal government.
Independent Billing Agency, Inc. collects nonpublic personal information about its providers only when necessary to consistently render billing services and to handle your account per our Billing Services Agreement. The information collected generally may include:
- The information you provide on applications or other forms such as your name, address and Social Security number, medical license numbers, education and work history, mal-practice insurance coverage.
- Your invoice and payment history with us.
- Third-party reports, such as claims reports, insurance payments reports and summaries.
- Information about your business with us, such as services, claims history, account balances.
Independent Billing Agency will not disclose any nonpublic information about you to anyone, except as permitted by law. These instances include but may not be limited to, the following:
- Response to subpoena
- Prevention of fraud, or in compliance with rules from industry regulators
- Release to a government agency or other organization in response to an examination of our records.
